Zwick was a USMC crewman stationed on the USS California during the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Biography[]
Zwick served on the USS California together with Joseph Griffin. When the Japanese attack begun, Zwick tried to make his way to the deck along with the others, but decided to stay back and wait for Griffin. They then attempted to make their way topside, but a torpedo hit the ship, causing a gas pipe to explode, resulting in a fire. Zwick and Griffin picked up fire extinguishers and quickly put out the flames. Unfortunately, Zwick was burned alive when a second explosion occurred.
