The Milice Française (French Militia), generally called the Milice (French pronunciation: [milis]), was a political paramilitary organization created on 30 January 1943 by the Vichy regime (with German aid) to help fight against the French Resistance during World War II.
The Milice's formal head was Prime Minister Pierre Laval, although its Chief of operations and de facto leader was Secretary General Joseph Darnand. It participated in summary executions and assassinations, helping to round up Jews and résistants in France for deportation. It was the successor to Joseph Darnand's Service d'ordre légionnaire (SOL) militia. The Milice was the Vichy regime's most extreme manifestation of fascism. Ultimately, Darnand envisaged the Milice as a fascist single party political movement for the French state.
Medal of Honor: Underground[]
Milice members appear in the first mission of the game as the main enemy force alongside the Gestapo officers and Panzergrenadiers in the levels Midnight Rendez-Vous, Amongst the Dead and Without a Trace. They also appear in Final Uprising of the seventh mission. While they are not as skilled compared to their German counterparts, they are usually appear in smaller groups to overwhelm the player. Milice members usually can be seen using the Walther P38 pistols or the MAS-36 rifle but on the latter levels of the first mission, they can be seen equipped with Sten and MP40 submachine guns. In the seventh mission, they are equipped with StG-44.

Trivia[]
- Historical Inaccuracy - The Milice did not officially exist until January 30, 1943, meaning their appearance in the mission Occupied! is impossible. What did exist at the time was the Service d'ordre légionnaire (SOL).
- Historical Inaccuracy - The Milice never used the StG-44 in the war.
