The Type 96 15 cm Howitzer was an artillery piece used by Japan during the Second World War.

The Type 96 Howitzer only appears in the mission Pistol Pete Showdown. Griffin and his squad is tasked to silence these Howitzers codenamed Pistol Pete. With the help of Martin Clemens and Edmund Harrison, Griffin was able to destroy all three guns.

It is seen in the Guadalcanal missions.
The Type 96 Howitzer is the weapon used by the Japanese to shell Henderson airfield, after their car crash Thomas Conlin and his marine squad find the howitzer responsible for it and destroy it.
Later when marching through the jungle the marines clear out an enemy camp and come across another Howitzer, upon hearing the noise of a large tank squad consisting of three Type 97s and one Type 95. Conlin uses the enemy's own artillery against them and destroys the tanks.
The next time Conlin and his squad attack and destroy howitzer positions in Kokumbona Village.
Some Howitzers appear on some multiplayer maps and are objectives in invader mode.
