um why does he wear different camo from the rest of the squad? and why is he wearing gaiters

Ybarra is a USAF Combat Controller (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combat_Control_Team). Given throle he plays in the Ranger squad (he calls in airstrikes at key points in the Ranger missions), the developers likely chose to have him wear the Desert Camouflage Uniform in order for him to stand out against the other Rangers. Also consider that Air Force Pararescue and Combat Controllers continued to wear the DCU long after the Army had moved over to the Universal Camouflage Pattern.
