Minox is a German company (at the same time a brand) for the production of superminiature cameras created by the inventor Walter Zapp. The company became popular thanks to the release of spy cameras.
The Minox subminiature camera attracted the attention of intelligence agencies in America, Britain and Germany, and most of the Eastern Bloc (East Germany, Romania) due to its small size and macro focusing ability. There is at least one document in the public record of 25 Minox cameras purchased by the US Office of Strategic Services intelligence organization in 1942.
Medal of Honor: Allied Assault[]
The spy camera is a cut-out item from the game, so little is known about it. Its texture can be found in the game files. You can also find the texture of flashes caused by photography and lens overlay. Spy camera mentioned in the cut lyrics:
"You have acquired the spy camera!"
It was most likely supposed to be used for photographing Naxos prototype plans on Secret Documents of the Kriegsmarine mission. By modifying the script of the aforementioned level, the item's behavior is restored[1]. It can be also spawned through console and picked up. It can be used when player holsters their weapon - right-clicking zooms view similarly to binocular or sniper rifle scope, but it lacks lens overlay. Upon left-clicking camera creates white flash. The item's script has a reference to its sound (snd_camerapic), although it cannot be found inside the game files.
Medal of Honor: Frontline[]
Spy camera appears on "Clipping Their Wings"mission. The player must find it, and later use it to take pictures of the drawings HO-IX.
