Melee is a backup or close-quarters attack with a non-firearm weapon. In most iterations of Medal of Honor, it is a quick strike with the stock of the held weapon or fist, though in Airborne and Pacific Assault, a very common melee weapon is a bayonet affixed to the end of a firearm. In the 2010 release, it is a knife attack.

Medal of Honor/Underground[]

In the original Medal of Honor and Underground, melee attacks do not have their own button unlike future installments, instead, whenever the player is out of ammo with the vast majority of weapons, trying to shoot will result in using the weapon to bash the enemy, while not super effective, if the player has no ammo for one weapon, they can use it to conserve ammo for other weapons when it comes to destroying vents/dealing with unaware enemies.
