The MG4 is a light machine gun featured in Medal of Honor: Warfighter. It was first seen with a camouflage and an Trijicon ACOG TA11MGO (Machine Gun Optic). The MG4 is a 5.56 mm belt-fed LMG produced by Heckler & Koch. It's a rather recent weapon, since it was developed in the 1990s and first presented to the public in 2001. It has been chosen to replace and/or complement the 7.62 mm MG3 machine gun.

Campaign[]

It is the starting weapon in Connect the Dots with a M145 Optic, it overheats if continued to use. It can not be used after leaving the helicopter. Tick uses one during the whole mission.

Multiplayer[]

In singleplayer, the MG4 is only seen once in Connect the Dots, used by Stump and Tick with a SpecterDR and mounted to a AH-6 Little Bird. The weapon has unlimited ammo, but overheats with sustained fire. It is left behind when Stump switches weapons. It is available for the Heavy Gunner class in multiplayer.

The MG4 is not very user friendly. Its very high recoil when standing and the obstructive H&K standard scope can make this gun look terrible, but is considered as a reliable weapon, nevertheless.

The MG4's recoil is certainly not quite good when standing, but it highly decreases when crouching and even more when prone, even without using the bipod (which takes quite a while to deploy and is not highly recommendable unless the player plans to camp for a long time).

Firing quick bursts from a crouching/prone position allows the user to be deadly at almost any range, since the MG4 has very good accuracy and range, and also deals a quite good amount of damage.

Furthermore, it can equip an Augmented Mag (available from the beginning since the first version unlocked, the KSK MG4KE, already has this accessory) that gives the player 150 rounds per magazine, at the cost of some mobility. Indeed, the MG4 is probably the less mobile weapon for the Heavy Gunner, but it still has many interesting advantages. It also has the second highest rate of fire for its class.

Globally, the MG4 fits for defending roles more than for offensive roles, since it gives its best when the user is not moving.
