The AK-47 is a Russian assault rifle featured in Medal of Honor (2010). Firing 7.62x39mm Russian cartridge, it is powerful, and due to its simplicity, also very reliable and effective.
Campaign[]
The AK-47 in campaign is a common weapon to find on dead foes, alongside the AKS-74u. The player can pick up lots of guns and ammo, but can't ask NPC teammates for them. It has good stopping power and high, random muzzle movement while firing.
In singleplayer, AK-47's picked up off the ground are of many different variations, all of which having one of three possible stocks. Some have regular metal magazines, others have orange bakelite magazines. Also, some weapons have a variety of furniture, some being fine wood, others being ruined wood, and synthetic.
The known AK "Skins" are:
- USSR/Russian AK-47 and AKM
- Hungarian AMD-63 (weapons with a reversed default grip as a foregrip, they also lack the upper handguard)
- Chinese Type 56 SMG
- Romanian AIMS ( weapons with the wooden foregrip built on to the foregrip)
Multiplayer[]
It is the first primary weapon unlocked in the Opposing Force's Rifleman Class. It has a 30 round magazine, low damage, and high recoil. Unlike the other kit weapons, it is not statistically identical to its Coalition counterpart, the M16A4, and instead possesses a lower minimum damage and a slightly lower rate of fire, as well as a longer reload, generally putting the user at a disadvantage, particularly at range.
Trivia[]
- During the preliminary beta of multiplayer, the iron sights of this weapon were more misaligned than during the full game.
- Stats-wise, this is the only weapon in multiplayer that is not completely identical to its opposite on the other team.
- In multiplayer, it uses an integrated GP-25 grenade launcher, like the M16A4 which is equipped with a M203.
- The AK-47 in singleplayer is actually based on the AKM, an upgraded version and successor of the original AK-47.
- In multiplayer, the reloading animation of the weapon is the same as of both the AEK-971 and the AN-94 from Battlefield: Bad Company 2, which is a game developed by DICE, who developed the multiplayer of Medal of Honor (2010).
- Although some AK-47 have foregrips, the idle sway and recoil aren't changed compared to the non-grip ones.
- The AK-103 in Medal of Honor: Warfighter is a successor of AK-47, both of them use the same 7.62x39mm ammo.
