- "Least were going in style, nothing beats a ride in a Dauntless"
- — Thomas Conlin
Douglas SBD "Dauntless" — American carrier-based dive bomber — scout. In the US Army Air Force, it received the designation A-24 "Banshee" .The aircraft was a cantilever low-wing monoplane, which had all-metal construction except for fabric covering the control surfaces. Initial orders for production aircraft were made in April 1939. It is considered the most successful carrier-based dive bomber of the United States Navy during the Second World War. It was this aircraft that attacked the Japanese carrier group at Midway Atoll, inflicting damage from which the Imperial fleet was never able to recover.
In total, 5936 Dauntless aircraft of all variants were produced.
Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault[]
Dauntlesses first appear on Henderson airfield, when the airfield comes under artillery fire most of them are destroyed. Some Dauntlesses also appear during the attack on Henderson where pilots frantically board them to defend from air attacks.
During the mission 'Flyboys', Thomas Conlin serves as the tail gunner for a Dauntless while the pilot and him fly towards USS Enterprise. However, before the crew can reach Enterprise, the pilot is injured. Frantically, he ejects. Conlin, lacking a parachute, must take control of the aircraft, which he then uses to assault a Japanese controlled island and destroying a Japanese aircraft carrier and destroyer.
Dauntlesses also appeared during the invasion of Tarawa where they assisted the Marines in landing on the beach by attacking Japanese positions.
Some Dauntlesses also appear in the multiplayer map Airfield.

Trivia[]
- While in reality a Dauntless could only carry 3 bombs, in the game this plane carries 4 bombs and a torpedo, which is incorrect, even if so, probably endurable and flight range couldn't be able fly so far, let alone that would be bulky to maneuvering to commit dogfight against enemy aircraft.
