The 505th Infantry Regiment, formerly named the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, is an Airborne Regiment within the United States Army and one of four Regiments that form the 82nd Airborne Division.

After his glider was shot down John Baker meets up with a few scattered members of the Regiment. One of them, Lieutenant Philips, later orders Baker to infiltrate the Airfield of Caltagirone.
